Maya Boustany - Student Achievement Officer

Describe your role at Regent's:

I help students to manage their studies and achieve their potential

What does a typical workday look like?

Lots of student meetings (planned and unplanned), tackling my inbox, and hopefully a minute outside to appreciate the grounds!

What do you love most about your job?

The students! The student body here is so interesting and never fail to brighten my day with stories about their successes and insights into the countries they are from (my countries-to-visit list is getting longer and longer).

How do you stay positive and motivated whilst WFH?

I make a plan for each day (yes I’m a list-aholic) and make sure I do everything on it. Work tasks, home tasks, exercise tasks - everything goes on there so I feel like I’ve been useful across the board!

Who would be your dream dinner party guests?

Simone de Beauvoir, Angela Davis, Jonathan from Queer Eye, Dorothy Parker, Truman Capote, Dolly Parton, David Sedaris, and Crystal Methyd. I think the high-low is key.

You can take up to three items to a desert island, what would they be?

The biggest tub of Tahini that will fit on the boat, an AI fishing rod as I doubt my ability, and The Neapolitan Novels.

What is your favourite quote?

I find inspirational quotes a little saccharine to be honest but I do love Dorothy Parker’s ‘four be the things I'd been better without: love, curiosity, freckles and doubt’ from Inventory.

Yummy food! My flatmates and I have been making some of our favourite treats to help us get through.

Steve Carell, Rick Stein, Aisling Bea and Greg Davies
