We have recently upgraded our Blackboard virtual learning environment to the new Blackboard Ultra, which will offer a better and more consistent learning experience for you.
Following the upgrade there have been a few issues reported to the ITS Service Desk. For example, some students have had problems with logging onto Blackboard, gaining access to course material, assignments and feedback. We now have some workarounds in place for this but there are still a few ongoing issues which we are working to repair, so please bear with us while we fix these issues.
We've summarised the most common questions from students below:
How do I log in to the new Blackboard Ultra?
- Step 1: Please remove any old favourites or bookmarks you have stored on your computer and disregard any emails you may have recently received with links to Blackboard.
- Step 2: In the address bar, navigate to blackboard.regents.ac.uk
- Step 3: You’ll see a page with a ‘OneLogin’ icon, please log in using your Regent’s username (your username is without @regents.ac.uk) and your Regent's password. If you are still having issues with logging in, please contact the ITS Service Desk and include a screen shot of any error message(s)
- Step 4: Once you have accessed Blackboard your courses and modules should be visible. You’ll notice that the landing page defaults to the Courses tab.
- Step 5: You can find resources such as the Library and Programme Handbooks by navigating on the left hand side to Institution Page and you’ll notice an option on the right hand side there is a dropdown menu for Brand Institution Page. Click the dropdown and select Regent’s University London.
How will I receive announcements from my tutor about my modules?
Currently in Blackboard Ultra, email announcements are not available. You will still be able to see any new announcements from your tutors when you enter a module, via the Activity Stream and on the Blackboard mobile app, but you will not receive any announcements via email. To learn more about how this works, please watch the following video guide.
How can I access historic content, such as assignments that I submitted to Turnitin, in the original Blackboard environment?
If you started studying at Regent’s before September 2021, you can still access the old Blackboard archive environment and find content from your previous modules so if you need to access assignments that you submitted in previous terms, you will still be able to get onto Turnitin through the old Blackboard environment until 31 January 2022.
This should give you time to download any feedback that is still saved on there. It is important that you do this within the time given. You can see how to do this in this video guide. This video can also be found on the landing page of the old Blackboard environment.
