Last Wednesday (3 November), we welcomed our second Visiting Professor Gareth Dunsmore, CMO of McLaren Automotive to campus.

The Visiting Professorships programme has been designed to offer you a chance to get closer than ever before to industry CEOs and MDs of global brands.

Attracting students and alumni from a range of courses and backgrounds, the lecture delivered an insight into the inner workings of luxury car maker, McLaren Automotive. Gareth spoke to a packed Tuke Hall, and we learned all about the plans for the future of the company.

There was also a Q&A section of the event, where some students and alumni got a chance to grill Gareth on sustainability, his career and passion for the automotive industry. A group of students were then invited to a breakout session with Gareth, where they had the opportunity to share feedback on McLaren and Gareth could gain valuable insight from a sample of Gen Z luxury consumers.

The team at McLaren also got a chance to show off their wares, when they drove two McLaren Automotive super cars onto Tuke Laws. Did you spot them?

The next Visiting Professorship lecture will be on 7 December, with Giulia Chierchia, Executive Vice President Strategy and Sustainability at bp. This lecture will focus on the move bp are making towards being more sustainable and give you a chance to gain insights into a new industry. More information about this event will be sent out soon, so please look out for this.
