Last week (18 November), we welcomed Helen Brocklebank, CEO of Walpole, for a thought provoking guest lecture called 'What's British about British Luxury?'
As our partner in the 'Visiting Professorships' programme, Walpole has been instrumental in bringing you closer to industry CEOs and MDs of global brands. This guest lecture offered a chance to further explore the industry and Helen gave her expert view on the future growth and her predictions for the future of British luxury.
Attracting students from across the University, with a special interest from the luxury brand students, this talk covered how Walpole helps promote, protect and develop British luxury brands. Helen captured the audience's attention by delving into the history of luxury, what makes Britain a leader in the market. With iconic members such as Alexander McQueen, Burberry, Bentley; Helen was able to share Walpole's unique insight into the world of luxury.
A smaller group of luxury brand students were then invited to a focus group, where students were able to ask Helen and her team their questions. The cohort of cosmopolitan students shared their views with the Walpole team on the luxury industry, how British luxury is recognised abroad and their opinions on the future of luxury brands.
If you'd like another chance to hear from Helen, the recording will be soon be available to watch. Please look out for a link in the next Regent's Student Newsletter.
